How to Connect Google
Step-by-step guide to connecting your Google account to WorkClaw via OAuth — including available scopes and multi-account support.
How do I connect my Google account?
WorkClaw uses OAuth to connect to Google services. No passwords are shared — you authorize through Google's own consent screen, and WorkClaw receives a secure token with only the permissions you approve.
- Navigate to Settings > Connections and select the Claw you want to configure.
- Click Add Connection and choose Google from the provider list.
- A Google sign-in window opens. Log in with the Google account you want to connect.
- Review the requested permissions on the Google consent screen. WorkClaw only requests the scopes needed by your currently installed skills. You can see exactly which scopes are requested and why.
- Click Allow to authorize. WorkClaw stores the token securely in your vault.
- The connection appears in your Claw's connection list with a Connected status.
What scopes are available?
Google connections support a range of scopes depending on which skills you install. Common scopes include:
| Scope | What it allows |
|---|---|
gmail.read | Read email messages and threads |
gmail.send | Send and draft emails |
calendar.events | Read and create calendar events |
calendar.readonly | Read-only access to calendar events |
drive.read | Read files in Google Drive |
drive.files | Create and edit files in Google Drive |
contacts.readonly | Read contact information |
WorkClaw requests only the scopes declared in your installed skills' REQUIREMENTS.yaml. If you install a new skill that needs additional scopes, WorkClaw prompts you to re-authorize with the expanded permissions. You can also adjust scopes manually from the connection management page.
Can I connect multiple Google accounts?
Yes. You can add multiple Google connections to a single Claw — for example, a work account and a personal account. Each connection is labeled so you can distinguish them. When a skill like Gmail runs, it uses the connection you designate as the default, or you can specify which account to use in your instructions to the Claw.
To add a second account, click Add Connection > Google again and sign in with a different Google account. WorkClaw treats each account as a separate connection with its own scopes and health status.
What if my Google connection stops working?
Google tokens can expire or be revoked from your Google account settings. When this happens, WorkClaw marks the connection as Disconnected and notifies you. To restore it, go to Settings > Connections, click the affected Google connection, and select Reconnect. You will go through the OAuth flow again. See Managing Connections for more troubleshooting steps.
