Claw Identity Settings
Configure your Claw's name, title, email, phone, Slack handle, and avatar so it represents your organization accurately in every interaction.
What are identity settings?
Identity settings define how your Claw presents itself to the world. These fields appear in outgoing communications — emails sent via ClawMail, Slack messages, and the Claw's profile card inside WorkClaw.
How do I set a Claw's name and title?
Open the Claw's Settings > Identity panel. The Name field is what the Claw calls itself in conversation (e.g., "Aria"). The Title field describes its role (e.g., "Executive Assistant" or "Research Analyst"). Both fields are free-text and can be changed at any time without affecting conversation history.
How do I configure contact details?
Identity settings include three contact fields:
- Email — The address the Claw uses for ClawMail. WorkClaw provisions a dedicated email address for each Claw, or you can connect a custom address through Connections.
- Phone — An optional phone number displayed on the Claw's profile card. WorkClaw does not currently support voice calls, but the number appears in email signatures and contact cards.
- Slack Handle — If your team uses the Slack integration, this handle determines the Claw's display name in Slack channels and direct messages.
How do I set an avatar?
Click the avatar placeholder in the Identity panel and upload an image. Avatars are cropped to a circle and should be at least 256x256 pixels. The avatar appears in chat bubbles, the sidebar, ClawMail signatures, and Slack messages.
If you don't upload a custom avatar, WorkClaw generates a default one using the Claw's initials and your team's brand color.
Do identity changes affect past messages?
No. Identity changes apply going forward. Previous messages, emails, and Slack posts retain the name and avatar that were active at the time they were sent. This ensures audit trails remain accurate.
Can two Claws share the same name?
Yes, but it is not recommended. WorkClaw does not enforce unique names, but having two Claws with the same name can confuse team members in the sidebar and activity feed. Use distinct names or append a descriptor (e.g., "Aria — Sales", "Aria — Support").
