Files & Shared Drive

Upload and manage files in WorkClaw's shared drive. Learn how your Claw reads, references, and creates files in your workspace.

What is the shared drive?

Every WorkClaw workspace comes with a shared drive — a file storage area where you and your Claw can upload, create, and manage files. These files are available to your agent during conversations and task execution, giving it the documents and data it needs to help you effectively.

How do I upload files?

Navigate to the Files section from your workspace sidebar and drag files into the upload area, or click the upload button to select files from your computer. Uploaded files are immediately available to your Claw.

You can also share files directly in Chat by attaching them to a message. Your Claw will read the file and respond in context.

How does my Claw use files?

Your Claw can:

  • Read files to understand their contents and answer questions about them.
  • Reference files when completing tasks — for example, using a brand guidelines document when drafting marketing copy.
  • Create new files as output from tasks — research reports, drafted documents, data exports.
  • Update existing files when instructed to, such as appending notes to a running document.

Files are also indexed into the embedding system, which means your Claw can find and reference relevant files even when you do not explicitly point to them.

What file types are supported?

WorkClaw supports common document formats including text files, PDFs, spreadsheets, images, and markdown. Your Claw can read and process most text-based formats. For binary files like images, the agent can describe contents and use them in context but cannot edit them directly.

How are files organized?

Files live in a flat list within your workspace. You can search by name or let your Claw find relevant files through its embedding-based memory. Special files like MEMORY.md have designated roles in your workspace and are managed by your Claw automatically.

Who can access workspace files?

All team members in your workspace can view and upload files. File access follows your workspace permissions — if someone has access to the workspace, they can see its files. For sensitive data that requires restricted access, consider using the Vault.
